Our Second Airbnb is Finished!
Well this was unexpected. We bought our first Airbnb in March of 2020 (click here for details on that one) and despite the pandemic, it thrived!
So we put some feelers out in an area that is highly underserved in the Valley – the Tempe/Mesa corner by the Cubs Spring Training field. It’s a highly popular and convenient location and very close to some of the biggest attractions in the Phoenix area: ASU/Mill Ave, Sky Harbor Airport, and Scottsdale. Yet there were virtually ZERO rentals available in the area.
I noticed that a few years ago and every time we drove by the area I would say “someone really needs to do a rental over here, it would crush it. Well I guess those “someones” are us!

What’s next?
Well, Danny and I agree on one location that will probably be next. It’s a secret, but it’s one of our favorite places in Arizona. (hint: it’s neither in the Valley, nor Pinetop). I’ve also wanted to do a historical Airbnb, and this location would be the most perfect for historical – it’s one of the oldest towns in AZ. Our first Airbnb attempt was actually a historic home in Florence, AZ but the deal fell through in 2019.
I have also always wanted to do a spa-like “retreat” rental in the Cave Creek/Carefree area, and we will probably end up renting out our Pinetop house when we build our forever cabin (not for like 10 more years though!)
