Michigan in May

I spent most of May in Michigan staying with my boyfriend for his last few weeks of college baseball. I took the train from Chicago to Kalamazoo to watch one of Adam’s games against Western Michigan. It was pretty chilly in Michigan the last few weeks, which was disappointing because I wanted to wear cute Spring clothes since we don’t get much of a Spring in Arizona!

We went to a Tigers game and I got to see downtown Detroit. The buildings downtown are so old and pretty! Everything was brick and very ornately constructed…much different from the boring cinder block and stone in Arizona! The game was so fun…we sat in the fifth row right behind third base and got to see Miguel Cabrera hit a home run up close!

The weekends were full of baseball. The last home series was bittersweet. We celebrated the seniors and remembered the season at the senior banquet. We all went out afterwards  to celebrate even more! The next day was Adam’s birthday, so I treated him to dinner at Real Seafood Company in downtown Ann Arbor. It was so good, and I love Ann Arbor! Another one of my favorite spots in Ann Arbor that we got to lunch at is Zingerman’s Deli. They have the best sandwiches and the best pickles!!

The whole last week was spent hanging out with friends and enjoying our last days in Michigan. A lot of card games were played, laughs shared, and dinners cooked. (Seriously, I think I made about 2 tons of food.) The Eagles won their last series against the University of Toledo, and we went out with a bang Saturday night to celebrate the end of the season. Sunday was spent packing up the apartment into the car and saying our goodbyes to everyone. It’s so bittersweet leaving…sad to say goodbye to everyone, but exciting to think of what is to come in the future.

The next four days will be spent driving across the United States to Arizona. We are going to stop in Chicago, Iowa City, Manhattan, KS, and Denver! Stay tuned for my travel stories this week!!
