The Best Sources for Recipes

Alright people….now that you’re home 24/7 and are stuck cooking your own food…I put together a list of my favorite sources for recipes so you don’t end up killing your significant other with “experimental” cooking.

And not all of them are Bourdain status! Sometimes I just like clean and simple, and sometimes I just need some good old fashioned comfort food. So there’s a little bit of everything for ya in here.

A lot of my absolute favorites have come from these sources and I’ve done some tweaks and adjustments to them for my taste.

And always remember….a recipe is just a guideline, you don’t have to follow it to a “T”. Follow your heart!

best sources for recipes websites and cookbooks

Joanna Gaines:

for simple but delicious, classic comfort food

Don’t expect this to be diet food! Lots of her recipes require heavy cream. And they are DAMN GOOD! My favorite from the book so far is the three cheese quiche.

You can find her cookbook here!

Lexi’s clean kitchen

for clean, simple takes on classic favorite recipes

For example…gluten free banana bread, healthy Thai peanut chicken and healthy soups. If you are a simple cook and hate complicated recipes, she is for you!

You can find her cookbook here, and she has some recipes on her blog here as well.

Bon Appetit

For unique, delicious dishes that will push you outside your comfort zone

I mean…just browse the site and you’ll know what I mean! Lots of the recipes use ingredients you may have never cooked with before. I have learned a LOT from Bon Appetit recipes. I have a pretty crazy palette and love trying new things, so Bon Appetit is right up my alley.

Chris Marcum of Chris Loves Julia

For both: clean anti-inflammatory foods, and delectable innovative recipes

Chris is legit. He makes up his own recipes which can be ornate but if you are a foodie you will appreciate them! He puts ingredients together that are so unexpected but absolutely mind blowing.

His wife Julia was recently diagnosed with Hashimoto’s Disease, and can’t eat gluten and dairy amongst a plethora of other things. Lucky for her she has a true chef in the house that takes yummy recipes and somehow makes them even more delicious while turning them clean.

You can find them all on their blog here.

Ina Garten/Barefoot Contessa

for literally everything

Ina is a queen. She is good at every type of cooking. Listen to everything she says.

You can find free recipes on her website here and her cookbook here.

Kelly Leveque

For gut-healing, clean and easy yumminess.

I’ve been following her for years. She has a podcast and a book, and all her recipes are free on her website here.

Chrissy Teigen

For interesting + global takes on comfort food

Our favorite is the spicy italian sausage meatloaf from her first cookbook. They’re all pretty good, though! And fun to make. And her cookbook is definitely entertaining.

You can find her cookbook here.
