The McCormick Flip Kitchen & Great Room: Sources, before photos, and all the details

If you’ve been following along with this flip project journey, you know it’s been a long road! A little over a year ago, I was asked by a family friend to design their flip project. It was a foreclosure, and it was bad – a complete gut job. But great for me, because it was a clean slate!

If you want a refresher, here is my IG story highlight of the flip. And here is the final listing!

I’ll take you through all the main parts of the house, but for starters: the kitchen and great room!

Note: final staging was not done by me 🙂

Great Room:

Here is my inspo for the fireplace. The fireplace in this house is such a focal point

Kitchen Before:

It was actually an L-shaped kitchen and there was a wall dividing it with the great room. That wall got knocked down and the kitchen was completely reconfigured.

Here were my main inspo pics for the kitchen. The main vision was modern white and black, with some rustic elements like a reclaimed wood range hood and floating shelves.

Here were the original plans. We wanted a black island to make a bold, modern statement…as the room is HUGE and the kitchen is a big focal point.

And here is what the final product ended up being! We ended up going white on the island just to keep it light and airy, and opened up the space more with floating shelves rather than cabinets to de-clutter the space a bit. It’s a large kitchen, but with a galley style you have to be really careful.
