Lucky FABB West Coast

This past weekend in LA was very event-filled and crazy! I came from Detroit from seeing my boyfriend to LAX…let’s just say that buying WiFi was 100% worth the investment for that 6-hour flight. I stepped right off the plane to dinner with friends at Moonshadows Malibu. We sat outside right on the water and listened to the waves crash against the shore while eating dinner…it was so great! I had an amazingly fresh lobster Caesar salad and my favorite Clos du Bois Chardonnay. The next morning I had breakfast with friends at Toast Bakery Cafe. It was the cutest place! They had a cute little candy and sweets shop attached. I had an amazing (and really filling) breakfast called The Oscar. We went to Ashtanga yoga at Equinox later in the early afternoon…it was the coolest gym and it was a great class. We didn’t hurry out of there because we took full advantage of the steam room and the Kiehl’s shampoo and conditioner in the showers. That night, I went to the Duplex on Third in Beverly Hills for a Lucky FABB pre-party. It was a very unique and intimate venue. We took over the second floor, where they had multiple rooms and a bar. I got my hair done by Sexy Hair…she gave me an old Hollywood glam look and I loved it! I’m definitely inspired to start doing more with my hair now, instead of the usual waves I normally do. The theme of the night was 20’s glamour, so quotes from Marilyn everywhere and a “bombshell” drink were appropriate. I met a new blogger friend, Brookelyn Urig from Best of Bklyn. It turns out we’re from the same hometown and know a lot of the same people…what a small world, right?!

Friday was the Lucky FABB conference! The editor in chief of Lucky Magazine, Eva Chen interviewed a few great success stories in the fashion world. I got to hear a panel that included Raman Kia of Condé Nast, Stephanie Mark of The Coveteur, and Hilary Peterson of Lyst. Eva Chen also interviewed Sophia Amoruso, founder and CEO of NastyGal…she was amazing! I got to listen to Nicole Richie talk about life and her label, House of Harlow. She was sooo sweet and down to earth…I was actually kind of surprised! I got to sit by the fabulous and gorgeous Marianna Hewitt, from La La Mer.

We had lunch catered by The Bazaar restaurant at the SLS Beverly Hills, and I was able to network with a bunch of new brands that you might be seeing on the blog coming up soon! We had 3 breakout sessions after lunch, and I was able to hear business tips from January Jones of MadMen and Cassandra Grey of Violet Grey. I also got to hear from model Karolina Kurkova and my blogger idol, Aimee Song from Song of Style. Next, I got to enjoy LaMarca Prosecco during happy hour provided by MissMe Jeans (I wasn’t complaining!) We wrapped up the day by hearing from the hilarious, amazing, inspiring, down to earth supermodel Coco Rocha. It was a fabulous day!

I got dinner and drinks with a friend at The Churchill in Beverly Hills, and met up with some of my boyfriend’s family that was coincidentally in LA for the weekend also. I was really pooped, but managed to make it out that night to spend some time with friends in Hollywood.

Saturday morning was a wrap-up brunch at the SLS Beverly Hills, and I got to enjoy some more LaMarca Prosecco with my mimosas. I met Sakura from Bloguettes…also randomly from Scottsdale (what’s up with all the people I meet being from Scottsdale?!) I want to say thank you to Lucky Magazine and all of the brands at the event that I got to meet!

That afternoon, I celebrated my friend’s birthday at Malibu Wines. I am definitely going back. There was a live band, and tons of people with their picnic blankets and cheese and crackers to go along with the great wine from the winery. We made our way to Paradise Cove afterwards, and headed back for a quiet night in.

Sunday, I had a yummy eggs benedict from The Larder at Burton Way with friends and relaxed on the beach in Venice for a few hours before I headed to the airport. It was an amazing weekend in the good ol’ BH, but necessary to be home and get back to giving you guys some more blogs!

shoot for the stars,
